Governor (Frack Me Now) Cuomo Trying To Fast Track Allowing Fracking in New York...Sign Petition to Ban Fracking

Make no bones about it...Governor Cuomo has fracked gas on his hands, frack money in his pockets, and rosy red lips from kissing to much gas ass...he is trying to force through fracking regulations that fall far short of protecting our communities, and we in the Anti-Fracking Camp are trying to stop him and the (un)Natural Gas industry that has spent tens of millions of dollars here in New York on FALSE ADVERTISING...propaganda that is.

Ban Fracking-Protect Our Water and Resources
You can help in the fight by reading the latest press release from "Food and Water Watch" clicking on the link and signing the petition, then taking the link to this article and emailing it to your friends...BETTER YET, put the link to this article up on your Facebook Page....we need to reach 150,000 signatures and have just 6 more days to reach our goal.

PRESS RELEASE

Sign the petition to Ban Fracking Now! We are just shy of our goal to deliver 150,000 signatures to our legislators on May 3rd.

After attending the Senate Fracking Forum in Albany yesterday, I thought it essential to reach out to you at this critical time. Despite the proliferation of questions regarding health and safety, Governor Cuomo's administration is poised to finalize regulations that would allow fracking in New York, and we must stop it! Will you add your name to the letters urging our elected officials to support a ban on fracking?

My colleague, Eric, sent the below email to you back in February asking for you to take action. Since then, many legislators have stepped forward in support of legislation to ban fracking; yet others are still under the impression that we would be able to regulate this mess. How can we regulate a process that still poses more questions than answers?

Regulations aren't free. They cost the public money and they tie up government personnel. Wouldn't it be better to invest in a clean energy future and Ban Fracking Now?

We are organizing several events around the state where we will be delivering petition signatures to our elected officials on May 3rd. Please take moment to sign the letters to our elected officials urging them to support a ban on fracking in New York:

Taxes Filed and Other "News on The Run"

First, do apologize for the lack of articles this week, but unfortunately more pressing life issues have held sway here...A) TAXES...uggggg...good news is they are officially filed, though have to contest what I feel was a wrongfully given 1099 MISC form I received, and B)  been getting prepared for a presentation to the "Town of Fallsburg" Board this upcoming Monday night at 6:00 PM...see below.  Please try to attend.
On Monday, April 16th, 2012 at 6:00 I will be officially asking the "Town of Fallsburg" to pass a zoning ordinance that would BAN FRACKING.  It is my understanding that Steve Vegliante and the board are more than willing to issue a proclamation against FRACKING, but that is inadequate.  If you oppose fracking, PLEASE ATTEND this important board work session meeting and SHOW YOUR SUPPORT for a zoning ordinance that would ban fracking in our community.  Also, please pass this message along to ALL YOUR FRIENDS. If you need more information or directions please call me on my cell at (845) 346-6523
The weather...Tomorrow beautiful, Sunday crappy and raining all day, and MONDAY...FABULOUS!  Can someone bring me over a chaise lounge so I can sit in front of my building and TAN TOMORROW...we are talking bright, sunny and almost 70 degrees.  By the way, great time to get tomatoes in the ground if you want to be one of the first in downtown Mountaindale to be slicing vine ripened maters!

Main Street observations...Time Warner was out and about today, their crew putting in what appears to be brand new internet service over at Janet's Radiant Yoga studio.  Sure her clients will be happy to visit a Yoga studio with WIFI capability.

Rumor has it...and at this point, it is just RUMOR that we here in downtown Mountaindale might be getting a convenience store...more on this HUSH HUSH story as it becomes available.

For those who are wondering...the Mountaindale Inn is officially opened for the season, and the first "Open Mic" night this past Wednesday was a HUGE SUCCESS!  If you want to stay current on events at our FIRST RESTAURANT BAR in Mountaindale, join the new Facebook Group!  Tell Kelsey that Sherwood sent you!  Hope too see everyone out again this upcoming Wednesday night, and remember...at the Mountaindale Inn, there is NEVER A COVER CHARGE on Open Mic Night!

Rumor has it that we have new banners coming...find myself wondering, what happened to the Banner Design Contest?  Seeing as the winnings from the "Train Garden" project from last year that Sullivan Renaissance awarded second place to are paying for these new banners, just wondering how it is that I missed the CONTEST? Who WON? Is the new town slogan suggested by our own talented local artist, Raymon Elozua  being incorporated?...so excited to see these banners appearing around town, and of course anxiously awaiting the newly rebuilt/designed flower boxes as well.  Mountaindale in late spring when the flower boxes are out really looks quaint, and of course the hanging baskets incorporated as a part of last summers winning Renaissance Project really made Main Street POP.

New Historical Signage For Rails to Trails Corridor
With all the new businesses in town, with all the talk of more coming, find myself wondering if any other local business owners and business people would be interested in forming a "Downtown Mountaindale Business Association"?  Thinking if we could get it up and running before next February that it would be nice to apply for a Sullivan Renaissance Beautification Grant since there seems not to be a project going on this year.  Love to see Anderman Oil, Robinhood Realty , Hospitality Green and some of our other major hamlet businesses such as the Mountaindale Inn run with such a project/business group.    With the newly finished "Historical Signs" and the almost completed brochure for our "Rails to Trails" corridor, this seems like and opportune time for such a group to come into existence.

One last local news reminder!....GIRL SCOUT COOKIES are coming in supposedly this COMING WEEK!  I already have my own case ordered, but maybe I should get a second one!

New York Fracking Action Alert...From Food and Water Watch

This just in...please take action on this ASAP as we try to get our governor to do the right thing for the state of New York, which is place a permanent ban on FRACKING in our state.

Huge news! On Monday, the Niagara Falls City Council voted unanimously to block fracking at the local level. And on Tuesday, the Buffalo Common Council passed a resolution supporting a statewide ban on fracking and wrote a letter to Governor Cuomo demanding that he not allow fracking in New York! Will you call the Governor (866-961-3208) now and tell him to heed Buffalo's warning?

This is a monumental and historic day, not only for Buffalo, but for all of New York state, and for communities everywhere affected by gas drilling. Last year Buffalo was the first city in New York state to pass municipal legislation opposing fracking and fracking waste, in order to protect residents from drilling and waste disposal. Now, Buffalo has stood up again, this time to protect its neighbors. Will you stand in solidarity with Buffalo and tell Cuomo that fracking needs to be banned in NY?

Give Cuomo a call NOW! Follow this link to make and report your call:

Like Dante's Inferno, Fracking Waste Water Burns The Flames of Hell

FRACKING HELL...coming to your backyard in Sullivan County"
Dante's Inferno has nothing on a Fracking Waste Water Dump hole when it comes to uncontrolled flaming fires spewing contaminants into the night sky...and our BACK YARDS!...seems the Eagle Ford Disposal site in Texas had a bit of an issue last night...chalk up another hazard, and another accident for the fine folks in the Natural Gas Industry that keep assuring us they want to DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME THROUGH...seems they are failing miserably all over America at every step in the process...keep in mind that the NYDEC has failed to facture in the WHOLE PROCESS when it comes to their proposed guidelines for regulating FRACKING IN OUR STATE!

Three people have been injured after an explosion and fire at a disposal well in Pearsall, Texas Thursday night. The site is used for disposal of fracking fluids from the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas, about 50 miles from San Antonio.

Why Tom Corvett's Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission's IS A SHAME

As pointed out in the previous article, protesters yesterday successfully interupted the proceedings of the Pennsylvania Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission's second meeting, and they should be applauded.  More importantly though...do they have a point in their protests, is the governor's Commission a SHAME, stacked in favor if a dishonest, corrupt (un)Natural Gas Industry?  In a word, "Yes".  Consider if you will some very disturbing facts.

1. EIGHT companies that have liberal representation on the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission were cited with VIOLATIONS last year...including the notorious KING DADDY ENVIRONMENTAL RAPIST, Chesapeake Energy who has had TWO well head failures in the past few months, three in the past ten with the latest being the Bradford County well failure which dumped tens of thousands of gallons of lethal fracking chemicals out onto farmland, and into streams.

2.   One of these companies with commission representation LEAD THE STATE IN VIOLATIONS, and will let you guess WHO IT WAS.

3.  SURPRISE SURPRISE, every one of these companies WERE HEAVY CONTRIBUTORS to Tom Corbett's campaign for governor.

Now if you listen to these industry insiders, the proverbial FOXES guarding the henhouse, they will claim their
presence on the Commission adds extremely valuable expertise, knowledge and talent to the panel. Knowledge of what?  How to skirt and/or break the laws meant to protect human health and the environment?  How to see that the rules meant to regulate themselves are written in a way that FAVORS THEMSELVES?  How to see that the recommendations, and resulting rules are written in a way that they can just write out a check as a cost of doing business every time they destroy a water supply, or despoil the land?

The citizens of Pennsylvania should already be circulating a Recall Petition to rid themselves of Tom Corbett who may well be the most dishonest politician to hold public office.

Natural Gas MAGIC SHOW-A must see CARTOON

A friend of mine sent me the above cartoon on fracking...

It says SO MUCH about the vile industry that is bent on destroying our lands, poisoning our drinking water in the name of profits, while at the same time wrongly playing on peoples hopes, dreams and patriotism to get their signature on a lease.  Lets dispel some of the myths the industry puts out to us.

1.  Natural Gas is clean and green...it is not.  Over a 20 year period, Natural Gas is perhaps dirtier than coal, but more importantly, the methane makes it a larger contributor to GREEN HOUSE GASES that cause Global Warming/Climate Change.

2.  Natural Gas Fracking will not poison your water, there has never been one case of ground water being damaged by fracking...this is not true, or at best a HALF TRUTH.  Fracking STARTS THE CHAIN OF EVENTS THAT WILL POISON YOUR WATER.  If you are hit by a bus, but die from internal bleeding, the Natural Gas folks would have you believe that a BUS CANNOT KILL YOU.

Look for more of these smaller articles in the says and weeks to come...please link to them, or put them on your own ANTI FRACK SITES.

REFRACTURING...Getting RAPED TWICE!

The old saying says one picture is worth a 1000 words...well, how about one picture as proof, and a word all those opposed to Fracking will soon fear!  The word is REFRACTURING!...imagine them coming in and Fracturing your land, then COMING IN A SECOND or even THIRD TIME! From a presentation from one"Mohd Zaki bin Awang" the staff production technologist for "Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd" I give you the slide that talks about REFRACTURING!...well let your imaginations contemplate this.
