It's Official...First Snow of 2012

It's official...it is just before 10:30 in the evening here in Downtown Mountaindale, NY and we have our first snow fall of 2012, the white stuff beginning to stick as the hamlet takes on an ethereal other world feel.  Not sure just how much we will get, but there is something magical about what it come down to the ground, each flake dazzling in the glare of the few street lights which brighten up our Main Street.

It has been a mild winter, temperatures almost balmy, even earlier in this day.  Now it is below the freezing mark, the earlier rain turned first to freezing rain, and then the white stuff that sees us huddling in our small places, a cup of fresh coffee keeping away the chill of the wintry night.

Welcome to winter everyone.

It's Official...It's Effffing COLD in Mountaindale Tonight

A well known face around town was heard saying, "It's Effffing COLD", and with the wind whipping around at up to 40 MPH, those sentiments are so true. That said, after last night's freshly fallen snow, today was a perfect day to go out and take some digital photographs in and around Mountaindale. Does not matter the season, or even if it is "effffing cold" outside, there are always wondrous sites here in our community waiting to be captured on film...or in this day and age, captured in a digital image by the avid photographer.

As the temperatures plummet, here is one of a few shots from a brisk walk taken earlier today...hope everyone enjoys it.
