Thursday "News on the Run" Torah Recovered

TORAH RETURNED...Celebration Video
Back in January we brought you news that the Landfield Avenue Synagogue in Monticello had their Torah stolen.  This very important religious artifact, handwritten in Israel had a value of $35,000.  In browsing the news this evening of a local nature, was very happy to find that the thief has been captured, and the Torah safely returned to its home inside one of the Synagogue's three Holy Arks...some great police work, and we are thrilled for them.

In other Downtown Mountaindale news, seems the rumor mill has it that we are getting a new store at 60 Main Street...once the future home of "Second Time Around".  We are all very excited about the prospect of yet another business coming to our small hamlet.  Also, stay tuned...seems there is a Valentine's Baking Contest about to be announced.

Hermann Cann endorsed Newt, and we asked, WHO CARES?  Today, Mr. "It's all about ME" Trump endorsed Mitt Romney, and again we ask, WHO CARES?

Another reason why OLD ANTIQUATED American Nuclear Reactors should not be relicensed....they do not make parts like they used too.  The tubes for a brand new Steam Generator in California show DANGEROUS SIGNS OF THINNING, presenting a great risk of a serious nuclear incident.  What is the NRC doing about it....NOTHING!

Friday News On The Run...EPA Says FRACKING Contaminated Water Supply

It's a beautiful day outside here in DOWNTOWN Mountaindale, all the empty storefronts decorated in Holiday Cheer as shoppers get in their cars and drive some place else to put presents under the tree. I just got back from picking up a few baking supplies in Rockhill, and so wish we had some of those services here in our little hamlet...a convenience store for that half gallon of milk would be such a welcome addition, but for right now would settle for an ATM machine, or a nice quaint coffee and danish shop where I could pick up a morning paper and say hello to those who happen in. Lets get to the news.

Friday "News on the Run"

Do hope that the NYDEC and Governor Cuomo are following the news today...seems that the US EPA is making it official...FRACKING CHEMICALS found in aquifer out in Wyoming! Sure that the Cabot's, Chesapeake Energy and Exxon's of this world are rushing too refute the evidence, but just as those opposed to fracking have been trying to say, allowing Hydraulic Fracturing of the Marcellus Shale here in New York will poison are fresh water supplies, and MAKE US SICK.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said for the first time it found chemicals used in extracting natural gas through hydraulic fracturing in a drinking-water aquifer in west-central Wyoming.

Samples taken from two deep water-monitoring wells near a gas field in Pavillion, Wyoming, showed synthetic chemicals such as glycols and alcohols “consistent with gas production and hydraulic-fracturing fluids,” the agency said today in an e- mailed statement.
In a DUH moment...76 percent of American voters say incumbents do not deserve to be re-elected in 2012. A big 10-4 on that Gallop survey, but sadly most voters though feeling that way will think their own CONGRESSMAN or SENATOR is doing a bang up job. Come on folks, lets make 2012 the year of anyone but a Republican or Democrat. Anyone think I should throw my hat in the ring? LOL

Will Great Britain TRASH American economy and stock market, bringing on the first Great Depression of the 21st Century...I mean we are already in a Great Recession. Follow this crisis on Twitter

In what can only be considered unfair dangerous Republican politics as usual, Boehner is trying to tie the environmentally dangerous Keystone XL oil pipeline to the must be passed proposal to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits. Maybe he should spend less time in the tanning booth, stop playing so much golf, and get in touch WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
