Mike Knapp, YOU ARE The Company You Keep

Seems that Mike Knapp (who seems to be nothing more than a Landman willing to say, do anything to get a landowners signature on a a lease at all costs) is raising a Holy War, A Jihad against Josh Fox whose movie "Gasland" has taken the nation by storm, and is helping to WAKE UP average citizens to the harm and peril that (un)Natural Gas represents.  

Seems that Josh's father was cited for burning of a trailer on his property in Pennsylvania...there is a citation for this.  Josh Fox does not own the property, which means any issues surrounding this are not his.  More importantly though, Mr. Mike Knapp wants to ignore some important material facts surrounding this issue, primary among them:

A)  Josh nor his father knew the trailer HAD BEEN TORCHED.

B)  When the Fox family learned of this arson, they IMMEDIATELY contacted the State Police, and there is currently an investigation going on.

C)  The Pa State Police have clearly stated that the Fox family (father and son) are not responsible, have pretty well said the fire was DELIBERATELY SET (arson).

A December fire that destroyed a Fox family mobile home cited for junk violations was set by someone other than Fox or his family, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The fire, across the Delaware River in Wayne County, Pa., was discovered by Fox last week. He had just returned to the Milanville property from a promotional tour for his film, which has riled pro-drillers, who blast it for what they say are inaccuracies.

"There's nothing to suggest either he or his family had anything to do with it," said Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall Russ Andress, who said the trailer burned while Fox was on the road. The fire is still under investigation, he said.

Mike Knapp President of Knapp Acquisitions & Production LLC Kittanning, PA apparently does not want to let FACTS get in the way of a good smear campaign as he employs the normal scorched earth attacks that the Energy Industry has used for years when grassroots activists are having success in bringing attention to indsutry practices that are unsafe, that threaten our environment and our health. This (un)Natural Gas Landman from the get go lets everyone know just how unsavory and despicable he truly is...notice that his Knapp Acquisitions company which bears his name is a LLC (Limited Liability Company, which means he has set himself up personally to be free of legal responsibility should ANYTHING GO WRONG...IE, say false promises, or verbal promises made to fraudulently get someone to sign a lease that end up in some kind of litigation...you can sue HIS COMPANY, but not him, and trust me, be willing to bet here that Mike Knapp drains the profits out of this enterprise almost as fast as they come in.  Which brings us to the company he keeps...if you do a cursory internet search, you will find out that HIS CLIENTS have been cited for some very SERIOUS VIOLATIONS, his clients are CHARGED with violations that have done some SERIOUS HARM to the environment already.

American Natural Gas Owned By Chinese Government?

First, for the record in case it is not obvious, I am opposed to FRACKING, believe the use of it to increase extraction at a (un)Natural Gas Well destroys pristine lands, will destroy our potable water supplies, and over time cost lives.  I am also pragmatic, and know too many people have already sold their souls to the Landman for the promise of future wealth.  We have politicians at every level of government trying to sell us on Natural Gas as the answer to getting us off foreign oil...OK...lets say this might be true.  That we could drill our way out of our dependence on foreign oil.

That argument begins to fail if you start looking at how much in bed with the Chinese Government America's second largest Natural Gas player (Chesapeake Energy) is...sure they will deny this, but the multi BILLIONS of dollars in deals with Chinese Government owned CNOOC suggests otherwise.  Why is over government willing to let Chesapeake bastardize our lands, threaten our environment, our drinking water supplies and our health to extract (un)Natural Gas that will be SHIPPED TO CHINA?

Furthermore, does one need to ask the question, is Chesapeake Energy a traitor to the American people, and should Americans find out where the gas is going to go before they give up their way of life for a few pieces of Judas Silver?

Aluminum Chloride Use In Fracking...Who Cares If You Have Trouble Breathing...They Have (un) Natural Gas

Did you know a Natural Gas Rig close to your house runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with crews working in 12 hours shifts...in short, you are never free from the onslaught.

As I delve deeper into this issue, one thing is certain...those wanting to drill for Natural Gas, those wanting the energy it could provide seem to think nothing of the inconveniences it will cause local communities, seem at best apathetic to the health and environmental issues surrounding this troublesome rush to employ  Fracking in the capture of and processing of America's abundant natural gas sources...question is, what is a fair price to ask us in the affected areas to pay so that you can have access to additional energy sources in the large Metro Area population centers?  Today's chemical...

Again, if one takes just a bit of time to investigate the complaints of those living near a Natural Gas well, these are some of the very symptoms they are complaining of, but in a callous disregard for the local communities these Ungodly wells are in, the Gas Companies (think Chesapeake Energy as example) simply shake their heads, laugh and look at the local citizens and say, "PROVE IT IS US", knowing the well will have been played, and themselves long gone before the people start dying off.

Today was one of those days that ended up being productive in a very non-productive way.  A friend of mine showed up with her friend who had an IPhone in desperate need of salvation.  Taking a look, which started at 10 this morning ended up being an almost all day project to save the IPhone...it was touch and go for awhile, a minister on call just in case, but at around nine this evening, said phone had been restored to perfect working order with everyone happy...good news is I now have a night of Chinese Food coming my way.  That is cause for some celebration, as I rarely get that treat living out in the boonies.

Fracking KILLS Communities

Greetings Fracktoids:

First, I have to admit my own ignorance on the subject of Fracking...until Saturday March 26, 2011 I had not even heard of the word, let alone the environmentally reprehensible act it referenced.  I was attending the showing of "The Greenhorns" at the (Catskill Art Society) CAS Arts Center Livingston Manor and during the question and answer immediately following, a woman was quiet vocal about it, and I had hoped to have a further opportunity to speak with her on the subject.  That opportunity occurred today at another event I was attending on the subject of buying food locally grown.  

The woman in question it turned out is one Victoria Lesser who was very well informed on the subject, and who suggested I visit Catskill Citizens, which I did this evening...what I read there, and so very basic research I did after visiting that site has me absolutely convinced that Fracking is both dangerous to our environment, and our human health...thus the word and title for this blog, Fracktoid...one who has been, is being, or will be harmed by the deplorable act used by gas drilling companies known as Fracking.

Sure that some might think my decision is made in haste...after all, how can one do adequate enough research in a few scant hours to make a decision on such an important issue, and how can one be against a gas industry practice that makes it easier to extract gas from underneath the ground...the politically incorrect part of me could simply state, "I'm opposed to anything that has George W Bush, Dick Cheney and Haliburton's filthy dirty corrupt fingerprints on it", and be speaking truth.  However, there are far more insidious reason that have caused me to, in a moment, become a citizens opposed to Fracking.  For reasons of brevity in this opening post, shall simply list a few on my list, which I am sure will grow into quite a lengthy one as time goes by and the story unfolds itself.

1.  The chemicals used in this process are known HUMAN carcinogens, that among other things, cause cancer and birth defects.

2.  The industry, much like the nuclear industry is hiding much of the horrific truth of the chemicals used in their deadly cocktail from members of the Stakeholder Communities under the guise and claim of Proprietary Secrets...it is noted here, that should a citizen group choose to CHALLENGE THIS CLAIM with say the EPA, the company(ies) would have to prove their right and need to keep the recipe secret from their competitors far outweighs a stakeholder community's NEED TO KNOW.  No lawyer here, but be willing to bet the industry would lose this one if properly challenged...especially since everyone in the industry who is doing FRACKING probably already has the recipe, or one of a similar dangerous concoction, which means they are claiming Proprietary Privilege for only ONE REASON...to keep citizens from being able to truly measure the risks to both human health and the environment from the egregious dangerous act of FRACKING. 

3.  The US EPA which has a deplorable record of protecting both human health and the environment with the help of one George W. Bush has exempted the gas industry and their fracking from the Clean Water Act...there is ONLY ONE REASON TO DO THIS...fracking RUINS YOUR SAFE DRINKING WATER!

It was not too long into my research that I saw MUCH WAS and IS being done by some very fine groups, and my only hope, is that this little blog will add more fuel to the proverbial fire as communities wake up all across America and start saying NO TO THE GAS INDUSTRY...some fights are worth fighting, and this is one of them.
