Romney Acceptance Speech a Snorefest

I am a news junkie, so even though I have no intentions of voting for a rabid right wing quarter billionaire by the name of Romney, did tune in tonight to watch his acceptance speech, see if he laid anything out that was real or different.  What a SNOREFEST!

The man has no clue, and still has not laid out anything to show America how he is going to fulfill his promise of creating 12 million jobs in four years...being straight forward honest, it cannot be done, and Romney and his handlers ARE LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, showing us they will do anything to get Romney elected.

Problem is, Romney is an out of touch, uber rich, boring man that if elected will rape America's middle class in the name of taking care of his rich friends.  Problem is, Romney will rape America's environment in efforts to give the oil, gas and nuclear industries everything they want, which is LESS REGULATION, and LESS PROTECTION OF THE AIR WE BREATH AND THE WATER WE DRINK.

Romney's speech tonight should make Americans stop and think...do we share the vision of America that Romney and Ryan share?  An America where gays do not have equal rights, and America where women who have been raped cannot get an abortion.  Is our America the same one Romney wants, which is an America where the average Americans taxes are raised $2,000 a year so that he can give millionaires and billionaires a $250,000 a year tax break.  Romney's vision is an America where Exxon can drill anywhere they damn well want to, and Natural Gas companies like Chesapeake Energy can frack for gas even if in doing so we lose our clean drinking water supplies.  Romney and Ryan's America will deny over 25 million Baby Boomers the Medicare they have ALREADY PAID FOR, will take Medicare and turn it into a voucher system that sends our tax dollars into the private insurance industry while taking more money out of our pockets to pay for below par medical care.

Romney is a boring stuffed shirt with a dangerous vision for America if you are a lower or middle class American...hopefully, the undecided voters will wake up and see this scary reality and vote for Obama.

What a NG Investment INSIDER Has to Say! MUST READ.

I have cut and pasted some salient remarks below from an article written by someone that can only be described as an INDUSTRY INSIDER and seriously encourage ALL THOSE IN THE ANTI FRACKING movement to read this article.  Some of the things this insider has to say are breath taking in their scope, and really confirm our WORST FEARS.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Poised to Take Control of Regulating and Banning Hydraulic Fracturing "Fracking"

March 3, 2011 (Investorideas Newswire) - Mr. Miller is part of many industry and governmental working groups regarding the Oil and Natural Gas Oversight and Regulation.

It has not become a foregone conclusion that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be given full authority and mandate to regulate any and all activities surrounding Hydraulic Fracturing, to include an imminent ban on the injection of all toxic chemicals into the ground, imposition of major fines for violations of the Clean Water Act, and designation of De-facto superfund/clean up sites in major drilling areas already seriously contaminated by the Natural Gas and Drilling Producers.

The future of Hydraulic Fracturing "Fracking" in the Continental U.S. is very much at risk given the undeniable facts that the process can't be conducted without the use of toxic chemicals, contamination of water tables, use of known carcinogens known to be harmful to humans and violation of the U.S. Clean Water Act.

Mr. Miller is a major supporter and advocate for the environmentally responsible development and production of Oil and Natural Gas in the U.S.

According to Mr. Miller:
  • The Oil and Natural Gas industry has brought a critical self inflicted crisis upon itself by failing to act in an environmentally responsible manner regarding the use of hydraulic fracturing. In one fell sweep, the industry has become the primary target of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State and Federal lawmakers, and most importantly, the general public.
  • The injection of toxic chemicals in to Oil and Natural Gas wells, many chemicals which are clearly known to be harmful to the environment, water tables, and human beings represents a catastrophic failure of the Oil and Natural Gas producers in the U.S.
  • Given the continued abuse by the natural Oil and Natural Gas and mounting incidents of water table contamination, fires and other drilling related problems in high and low density populated areas, and the pending law that will in essence "kill fracking" by virtue of eliminating the use of toxic chemicals in production wells, leads to the conclusion that the States and Federal Government will in unison and individually start to ban fracking operations across the U.S.
  • The first permanent drilling bans will occur in the Eastern U.S. in the Marcellus Shale formation in New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. This geographic area has already been severely damaged by Natural Gas Fracking and substantial legal actions are pending and many more are forthcoming against production companies.
There does not appear to be any way for the Oil and Natural Gas industry to lobby itself out of this critical problem, which many industry experts consider a death nail to many natural gas producers. Public opinion is overwhelmingly now against "Hydraulic Fracking" and we see the momentum to ban the practice outright in a majority of the U.S. as irreversible.

Example of Gas Industry Lies...Nitrogen Oxides Present No Danger

Sitting here doing some morning tweeting (responding to industry zealots like @KnappAP) and looking for articles on breaking FRACK news, or anything on the (un)Natural Gas industry came across an article about YELLOW PLUMES spewing forth into the environment from the Halton Hills Generating Station every time they start up or shut down.

The owner of the plant, Trans Canada and their spokesperson (Terry Cunha) admitted to the press that said plume is caused by the presence of nitrogen oxides (NOx) that occur when the plant is starting up or shutting down.  Mr. Cunha went on to say, "There is no threat to the community or to the residents,” and “We are meeting all the regulations within the MOE.”  Blathering on he explained the cause with "Visibility of the yellow plume varies depending on atmospheric conditions such as air temperature, moisture levels and cloud cover.”

Not being one to trust Natural Gas industry spokespersons, did a quick Google Search on Nitrogen Oxides and their HEALTH EFFECTS...Makes one wonder if America should be allowing Trans Canada to be playing such an important role in the Keystone Pipeline Project.  I mean if they are putting out a public misinformation campaign in the community playing host too one of their generating stations, what other lies do they have circulating about in the public domain.

Nitrogen gas, normally relatively inert (unreactive), comprises about 80% of the air. At high temperatures and under certain other conditions it can combine with oxygen in the air, forming several different gaseous compounds collectively called oxides of nitrogen (NOx). Nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2 - the criteria pollutant) are the two most important.

Health Effects

Certain members of this group of pollutants, especially nitrogen dioxide (NO2), are known to be highly toxic to various animals as well as to humans. High levels may be fatal, while lower levels affect the delicate structure of lung tissue. In experimental animals this leads to a lung disease that resembles emphysema in humans. As with ozone, long-term exposure to nitrogen oxides makes animals more susceptible to respiratory infections. Nitrogen dioxide exposure lowers the resistance of animals to such diseases as pneumonia and influenza. Humans exposed to high concentrations suffer lung irritation and potentially lung damage. Increased respiratory disease has been associated with lower level exposures.
The human health effects of exposure to nitrogen oxides, such as nitrogen dioxide, are similar to those of ozone. These effects may include:
  • Short-term exposure at concentrations greater than 3 parts per million (ppm) can measurably decrease lung function.
  • Concentrations less than 3 ppm can irritate lungs.
  • Concentrations as low as 0.1 ppm cause lung irritation and measurable decreases in lung function in asthmatics.
  • Long-term lower level exposures can destroy lung tissue, leading to emphysema.
Children may also be especially sensitive to the effects of nitrogen oxides.

Other Effects

Oxides of nitrogen also can:
  • Seriously injure vegetation at certain concentrations. Effects include:
    • Bleaching or killing plant tissue.
    • Causing leaves to fall.
    • Reducing growth rate.
  • Deteriorate fabrics and fade dyes.
  • Corrode metals (due to nitrate salts formed from nitrogen oxides).
  • Reduce visibility.
Oxides of nitrogen, in the presence of sunlight, can also react with hydrocarbons, forming photochemical oxidants. Also, NOx is a precursor to acidic precipitation, which may affect both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Golly GEE there Trans Canada, that plume suddenly sounds as if IT DOES PRESENT HEALTH RISKS to the citizens living close by...also raises some serious questions as to the SAFETY of creating electricity using Natural Gas fired plants.
