A Special Thanks...

Wanted to thank all our loyal readers...for the second month in a row we have topped 2500 visitors to our little Mountaindale News Blog.  We have also had visitors from 67 nations with the newest addition to the list being Israel. Talk about a far reaching audience!

So, just wanted to thank everyone who routinely stops by to see what we are up to, takes the time to read our articles.

Was out walking the other day when I saw this debris just dumped into the landscape.   Really is sad when you see such callous disregard for our environment, for the earth that we all call home.  The landscape here in Sullivan County should not see itself used as a dumping grounds for things that should be properly disposed of at a refuse collection point, or taken to the local landfill.

Fractoid News Blog Articles Being Consolidated On This Blog

Greetings Readers:

Sometimes in life, consolidating one's efforts, streamlining our work makes a lot of sense. For that reason, I am doing just that. As many of my faithful readers know, I have worked on various and assorted other blogging projects, and some of them have suffered as I have tried to serve, as it were, two masters.

As example, I have been the editor of both "Mountaindale NY News", and "Mountaindale After Dark", and simply stated, just do not have the necessary time to give both of these blogs the time effort and commitment they both deserve, so I am stepping down/resigning from "Mountaindale NY News" effective immediately, concentrating all my time and efforts on making "Mountaindale After Dark" the kind of blog that Mountaindale, Sullivan County and the surrounding Hudson River Valley deserve.

Another project I had started was the "Fracktoid News" blog, and if truth be told, though I have been posting articles on Fracking for months, that blog has languished in obscurity since May of this year simply because I have not had the time needed to give it the attention it so richly deserves. For that reason, I am importing to "Mountaindale After Dark" all the fracking articles from that blog so that the materials and information there can be read and disseminated from one location going forward...I am proud to be called and "Anti Fracker" and will continue my efforts on this important environmental issue, feel the best way I can be effective in those efforts is to centralize everything here where I routinely post articles in opposition to Hydraulic Fracturing in NY's Marcellus Shale.

If there are people in the Anti Fracking movement interested in taking over Fractoid News, please email me privately or leave yor email address in comments below this article and I would be happy to discuss transferring ownership of that blog to your organization, as well as the Twitter account of @fractoidnews and a Yahoo email associated with both properties.

Hopefully, when I post my last article to the Fracktoid News blog, all of my followers from there will come over and bookmark us here at "Mountaindale After Dark".

November 12, 2011 Artist Reception for Renowned Photographer Louis H Jawitz

For anyone who has enjoyed a meal in Mountaindale's new Uccelli Restaurant, you cannot help but notice the stunning photographs from around the world that adorn the walls of Robert's restaurant taken by renowned artist and photograph Louis H. Jawitz who now resides in our area. This Saturday November 12th, 2011 Robert will be holding an Artist Reception for the artist from 2:00-4:00 PM, and you are invited. Please stop by for some wine and cheese, meet Lou, and enjoy his beautiful photographic studies from around the world, including a breathtaking picture of the Twin Towers.

About The Artist

Artist Statement of Louis Jawitz

It was decades ago when I picked up my first camera, shot that first photograph that drew me into this mystical world that allows one with a simple lens to capture the essence of humanity, its foils, its toils and its triumphs.

I had gotten my first camera while serving on the nuclear aircraft carrier "Enterprise" and being in such close quarters found myself taking pictures of my shipmates, working at their assigned tasks, relaxing down below in the crew quarters. Back then, it was a waiting process, sending my film off to be developed, waiting with anticipation to see my first photographs. On the day the photos arrived, I carefully laid each one on my blanket, was amazed that the camera had not just captured the image of my friends, but had also caught the essence of who they were. Many of my ship mates started to buy my photos from me. They started to ask for shots of themselves and little did I know those early orders would lead not only to a lifetime love of photography, but would also set me on my life long career path.

All these years later and I'm still taking people shots, capturing the essence of them in my photographs.

Our Small Blog About To Reach Milestone of 5000 Page Views

Happened to look at our stats for this little news blog this morning, and was pleasantly surprised to see how close we are to reaching a wonderful milestone in our short history...we are at 4,824 page views, which means we should reach the milestone of 5,000 page views sometime on Saturday August 27th, 2011. Wanted to share this milestone with our readers, and thank all of you for your regular visits to our small space here on the worldwide web.

Make Mountaindale NY News Your Blog...Send Us Your News

Mountaindale NY News is about the people who live, work, play and visit our little hamlet...without all of you as readers, as contributors, we are JUST ANOTHER BLOG. With that thought in mind, want to encourage all of you to send us your own little pieces of news...is your child graduating from pre-school, grade school, high school or college? Drop us a email (pictures to go with article are always nice) and let us put up a small article honoring that achievement. Perhaps your son or daughter is serving in our armed forces, is perhaps deployed and in harms way? Please let us know, and if they need pen pals, perhaps we can help in matching them up with some of our readers...and of course, if they are wanting a taste of home, send them the link to our blog(s).

Does not matter what your news or event, we would like to share it with our readers...perhaps you are having a garage or yard sale, even have a couple of unique items you want to feature in your announcement about your event. Again, all is takes is sending us an email. Is your firehouse perhaps planning a pancake breakfast or other event open to the public?

You get the gist of this...we want our little news blog to reflect ALL THE GOINGS ON in and around our Mountaindale Community, want people visiting here often, contributing with comments, suggestions, and their own little news stories. We are also open to granting author access to any local residents who would like to contribute articles about Mountaindale, the surrounding area and its events and history.
